Ebro Greyhound Park: A good neighbor for over a half century
First opened in 1955, Ebro Greyhound Park, located on State Road 79 just north of SR 20, is Washington County’s only gaming facility and one of its largest private employers. The pari-mutuel track is locally owned and operated. Ebro Greyhound Park features greyhound racing and card games.
For more than 56 years, Ebro Greyhound Park has played a major role in building our economy, employing county residents and sharing its success with our community.
With a workforce of 200 or more and total local spending of $5 million annually, the owners & operators consider it a privilege to provide jobs here and do business locally. Since opening, Ebro Greyhound Park has employed several thousand Washington County residents.

As a good neighbor for over a half century, Ebro Greyhound Park has contributed over $1 million to local charitable causes and currently contributes more than $30,000 each year to local benevolent organizations and civic groups to help each accomplish its goals and service the needs of their benefactors and community.
The financial benefits to Washington County don’t stop there. Our communities also receive substantial benefit from $300,000 in local and state taxes Ebro Greyhound Park pays each year.
With voter approval for slot machines at Ebro Greyhound Park, it will expand and investment $300 million to build a contemporary resort hotel and entertainment complex which will create 1,500 new jobs, millions of dollars in additional local spending and serve as a source of pride for Washington County.
What’s more, an additional 35% slot tax will be paid to the state and a portion of those tax dollars also will bring benefits to Washington County.
Every year, people from Florida, and states adjoining Florida, spend hundreds of millions of dollars in casinos in Mississippi and Alabama. The gaming money spent in those states help fund their schools and community services. If slot machines are permitted at Ebro Greyhound Park, instead of going to other states, a large portion of these gaming and tourism dollars will come to Washington County and fund OUR schools and community services.
Voting ‘Yes’ for slot machines at Ebro Greyhound Park is an opportunity for Washington County to be a leader among small counties in growing a strong local economy.
